Solarium quick-start

Monday Mar 03, 2008

So, as promised, here is a quick-start tutorial on running Solarium from the SPOT Manager Application.

Short and sweet, but that's the way it should be.

You will see:

  1. How to start Solarium
  2. How to make a new virtual SPOT
  3. How to rename your Virtual SPOT
  4. How to deploy the Emulator Demo to the virtual SPOT
  5. How to start the Sawtooth MIDLet on your virtual SPOT
  6. Using the Sensor Panel to interact with the virtual SPOT
  7. Display information about the virtual SPOT and the programs running on it

Pretty simple, really, but it shows you the power of the Solarium Application and the Virtual SPOT Emulator.

You can see it writ-large on mediacast.sun.com, but be warned, it's over 10MB!

Next, I'll show you how I used NetBeans and the Emulator to quickly answer a Sun SPOT World Forums poster's question on using a specific sensor which I didn't even have!
