Who am I?
Very interesting post over on the O'Reilly Radar website. It says that half of JBoss installations, including those used for development, are running on Windows. The first comment that follows it is spot on, too. It points out that there are an awful lot of Open Source apps running on Windows. While some may regard this as sort of a dirty secret, I think it teaches a valuable lesson, one embodied by the Java Desktop System, among others: Open Source is more likely to win when it is pragmatic, not dogmatic. If you are willing to mix Open Source with proprietary apps, you are going to get a lot more eyeballs. What works, wins.
