Moving to Marketing

Remember the classic Dilbert cartoon where Dilbert is moved from Engineering to the Marketing Department? He's never been there before and doesn't know what to expect. As he approaches the door, he sees that it looks like the portico of a Las Vegas hotel. Over the columns there's a sign that says "Welcome to Marketing -- two drink minimum."  This has now happened to us. The Product Management department, which under the old SeeBeyond was part of Engineering, will now be part of  Marketing, as in the rest of Sun. Hot damn! Make mine a gimlet, with a twist.

What to do this weekend: visit the new Griffith Observatory

If you live anywhere near Los Angeles, like maybe as far as Dallas, the thing to do is check out the newly-renovated Griffith Observatory and planetarium. If you grew up in LA, like me and BW, you're bound to have some cherished school field trip memories of the funky old planetarium with its hard wooden seats and utterly magical sky show. Well, they've just spent $90 million and four years fixing the old place up, including installing a new state-of-the art star projector and a new theater named after Leonard Nimoy. Seems highly appropriate to have a Hollywood connection after all the movies that have been filmed there. Remember the heartbreaking scene with James Dean and Sal Mineo in Rebel Without a Cause? BW and I are heading over there on Sunday to take it all in. See you out there! Make sure you make a reservation on their web site.
