Comments:

My answer to this dilemma has always been that I explain to the
gallery owner, that I get 2000+ hits a day on all my sites, eBay
included, which then leads folks to my website, which then leads them
to your gallery. How many people a day do you get walking through your
door? Even if you get 15% that's more than you get through the door on
an average day. The client will also buy other works from the gallery
of other artists. Who looses here? I tell them I pay for eBay and its
less expensive than a billboard and much more beneficial. The
marketing for them is not something they can afford to turn down. I
don't directly compete with the gallery, meaning, none of my larger,
better works do I ever auction on eBay. Only fun little ones that I
paint for myself.
