Peet's Review (part 1)

Well as promised in several posts I will be offering my review of Peet's vs. Starbuck's. To keep things fair I ordered what I normally order when I go into a Starbuck's.

Hello Russell I will have a medium (grande) low fat carmel caffe latte.

After taking my name and swiping my card (Amex) I started to walk away... oh wait I have to sign the receipt. One for *bucks, I no longer have to sign the receipt there. A moment or two later a nice barista calls out, "Dan, medium (grande) low fat carmel caffe latte". Nice, one for Peet's, the personalized service is a great plus. Now onto the main portion of the visit, the coffee. Quick stir of cup and sip away... Oh that is good stuff. The latte was smooth with out any bitter after taste to the coffee and the temperature was just right.

Peet's wins round one of the coffee taste off, tomorrow the coffee of the day instead of the cafe latte and to check out their wireless setup.

For what it's worth.

Bah.... you can't really judge by fru-fru girly drinks. Compare them based on good ol' black coffee, the essencence of the geek. Midnight hacking (or noon time hacking for that matter) and whipped cream have nothing in common. When you sit down and compare the two side by side, based on the black stuff, you come to one realization: Maxwell House beats out them all.
