Sun Engineering Conference Day Zero
[Sun] / Permalink / 2005-02-22 19:59:23.0 /

Well I thought I would try to recap my days at the Sun Engineering Conference... as much of it as I can. The conference kicks off in full swing tomorrow but today was a starter day.

I sat in on a discussion / workshop on aspects of usable security and privacy. It was a great joy to meet some of the folks inside Sun working on these topics and what they are currently doing and where they see it going. I was mainly a fly on the wall to find ideas on how I can pull aspects into my day to day job and learn more what Sun is doing in the space. A couple of aspects of Solaris that caught my attention today were the use of RBAC and digitally signed binaries.

Along with sitting around and talking geek security I started the finishing touches on a poster board presentation that I am giving on the use of a new model for software gates and tools replication and a common building infrastructure for the software products that the group and am in support.

That about wraps up for day zero... off to bed now (I am still on EST and stuck in PST) only to get up and work on the second day of my research.

For what it's worth.
