Monday Aug 04, 2008
Today is August 5, 2008. My Fathers birthday is my sobriety date as well. Two decades ago things were way way different, but not in an inspirational or motivational way. I lived my life in a sort of a post traumatic haze of veiled emotion.
Yes life is good now. I get to be mom of two beautiful kids... On my last day at work with my former employer, several folks who were veterans of the company I was going to, said, "don't go to Sun and expect visibility, they are too big to care..
I have worked at Sun since 1992. Sun represented the first employer that I would demonstrate much persistence on, and find the kindness of a sweet HR person who just wanted to see me win and kept putting me in interviews until I was hired. I wanted to work at Sun because it was a company that seemed to embody the artist creativity, with a street fighter rebel logic.
My first job was in Corporate Marketing Intelligence as an Executive Administrator to the first "jobshare of 2 female Directors" at Sun. A year later, itching for more challenge, but still loving Sun.. Don't go to IT if you want to maintain visibility, was the advice. You will lose visibility and promotability.
Learning, challenging, growing, working with smart people that make me want to do and be better. Some help me be better by being very honest and kind..
Some of the things I learned is to trust my instincts as my guidance is vast, if I remember that.. and the pool becomes pretty shallow, and my temperature and creativity echoes it, when I forget.
Gratitude makes a difference and I am happy to be here.
I went over to the link on blogspot and found it inspiring, thank you for giving me this moment for reflection.
