Bring 'em back to life.

It is with great sadness that I report this morning the death of Sandy West, drummer for the penultimate female rock and roll band, the Runaways. Ms. West, who was co-founder of the band with Joan Jett, died on Saturday, October 21, 2007 of lung cancer. She most recently appeared in the Runaways documentary, Edgeplay (an interesting film made even more so by Ms. Jett's refusal to appear or allow her songs to be used). Sandy's final scene in the film is a heart-breaking tale of her post-Runaways life. Unfortunately, it seems, the musical portion of her life was its nadir. I remember her being interviewed as she sat on a rock, crying, because many of the other groups from the 70s were reuniting and making money from new records and tours and the Runaways were not.

And writing of things that I'd like brought back to life, the following information was written for the Sun ONE Identity Server 6.1 Customization and API Guide. Of course, in the time that Identity Server became Access Manager and 2004Q2 became 7.1, we were asked to remove it. From what I remember correctly, the higher-ups did not want customers modifying the Access Manager proprietary services or adding custom ones. It didn't seem to matter that the information was informative, or that modifying the proprietary services to change default values was normal behavior and something that I would want to know if I was a customer. (Adding new sevices is discouraged.) Anyway here is a link to the late and lamented Service Management chapter of the Sun ONE Identity Server 6.1 Customization and API Guide:

Remember that this information has not been updated in years but much of it is still relevant.

RIP Sandy West and Service Management.

penultimate?

Thank you, Skye. Penultimate? is a proper question. Are you (not you, Skye) really trying to say that the Runaways were the 2nd to the last girl rock n roll band? So, who was the last one? Was it the Red Aunts? Or was it the Slits? Or was it ESG? Oops, already got too many bands after the Runaways for them to be penultimate. Methinks you thinks penultimate means ultimate. And are you truly saying that the Runaways was Sandy West's low point? Because that's what nadir means.
