USC 44, ND 24

There's nothing related to Sun in this entry. Tonight, I don't care. Loyalty is worth something to me, and I'm nothing if not loyal to my alma mater, the University of Southern California. Tonight's game against the Catholics of Northern Indiana (that would be Notre Dame) can be safely summed up with these two photos, I think:

The Thrill Of Victory

The Catholics pay dearly for trying an onside kick; this
is several USC players celebrating a touchdown on the ensuing return.

And, Well...You Know The Rest

The ND QB looks toward God himself for an explanation, being a
good Catholic; the coach, not so much.

Next Up: The University of California annex, Los Angeles branch.

Comments:

As a Notre Dame alum, I understand your loyalty. You guys played a great game. The talent gap was obvious...your defense played out of their minds.

That doesn't mean I don't despise Pete Carroll any less. Egads, I hate that smug, weasely little man.

LA:Midwest :: Pete Carroll:Charlie Weis

And trust me, that's not meant as a compliment to Pete.

Jay, From what I remember of my early math, that means LA * Charlie Weis = Midwest * Pete Carroll. Now, I agree that Weis on a talented team like USC would do very well. But, you're also saying that Pete Carroll on a midwest team (like ND) would do as well. That sounds like a complement to me :-)
In Pete we trust. Fight on!

Trojan2....the syntax I used was not mathematical. It is the syntax used for analogies.

So, L.A. is to the Midwest as Pete Carroll is to Charlie Weis.

Or one might also say:

LA:Midwest :: Style:Substance :: Pete Carroll:Charlie Weis

Looks like your blog won't let me comment on posts from 2 years ago. =) I wanted to comment about the Po Bronson book you recommended two years ago. My former mentor from my Marketing days gave me the book as a going away present this year. I read it on my flight to Japan. =) You're right, it's completely perfect for traveling. It was definitely not what I expected the book to be -- I was delightfully surprised by it. Good recommendation, George. =)
