2008 Learning Service Day was launched from shenzhen on 12/18, this was a two days free training including Java, Solaris, Glassfish, Open Office, Open Source,etc. The purpose of this event was to spread the latest certification program at Sun and new technical program, encourage the potential technical stuff like developers, students to get different certification from Sun based on their requirement.  It is my honor can have the great chance to talk about OpenSolaris2008.11, and OpenSolaris Community, OpenSolaris User Group. Had a time there.

Ricky Zhou and I attended the 3rd ChengDu User Group meeting on Nov. 30. Ricky Zhou talked about Opensolaris new features and did amazing ZFS demo.


I talked about Opensolaris community and how to contribute the community. I was so glad the event went very successfully! We had a lot fun there.

Dec.3, Alan McClellan, OpenSolaris Document Community Manager, sent out the annoucement: New docs consolidation are available! There are thirty-seven (37)
books in source form available on the Docs Download page, which is available for download at
http://opensolaris.org/os/downloads/docs. It is so cool there are 13 different language version, to see translations of these docs, go here: Translations.

ACM/ICPC Opening Ceremony@ Chengdu-2008-11-29

Chengdu is the last stop of the  five live contests for the regional China ACM/ICPC in this year. Ricky Zhou,  Edgar Liu  and Fang Li continued to make the effort on the technical  and arrangement support to make sure OpenSolaris runs well as the default contest platform. That is really cool to see  hundreds students using OpenSolarisNetBeans at the same time.

In summary, there are thounds and thounds students from hundres of different university to participate 2008 ACM/ICPC China Regional Contest, and 35 teams on behalf of China will go to compete the world wide final contest ,which is hosted by KTH Royal Institute of Technology on April, 2009. We are very pround of OpenSolaris can influence so many students in China, it is so cool!!

hangzhou is the fourth stop of the  five live contests for the regional China ACM/ICPC. The world wide 2009 final contest will be hosted by KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

Ricky Zhou,  Edgar Liu  and Fang Li provided the technical  and arrangement support to make sure OpenSolaris runs well as the contest platform. That is really cool to see  hundreds students using OpenSolaris , Sun Studio, NetBeans at the same time. James was really impressived. If you will be in China in the coming one weeks and happen to be at Chengdu (Nov. 29-30, 2008), please stop by and see it in person, I belive you will get some really cool stuff.

2009 CommunityOne @SF and @NY

Fuzhou OpenSolaris Community

Jim and I went to fuzhou software park and talked with the people who were interested in the open source technical community, everybody introduced and got known each other, we talked and shared different thoughts.That was a great day! Looking forward to seeing them to create the OpenSolaris user group soon.

OpenSolaris meeting with hefei folks

We had a really good meeting with the folks at hefei today. Everyone shared the ideas and thoughts, fully participated into the whole afternoon, raised very impressive questions. Everyone was very happy, looked a few pictures left on my camera, believe Jim will post more pictures soon. So nice to meet the LiuWei, Sun campus ambassador, share the passional idea how he plan the Pizza Party and build the community environment at his university.
