Hardware Certification Test Suite 4.0 is Released!

Today, HCTS 4.0 has replaced HCTS 3.1. Many new features make certifying your hardware easier than ever.

  • More effective setup. Network setup can be done automatically or manually in HCTS 4.0. Be sure to follow the instructions in the HCTS 4.0 Getting Started Guide and the hctscli(1M) man page to set up your network and your test systems according to your real situation. Do not use instructions from previous HCTS releases.

  • More automated testing. Most tests can be run with little or no input from you. HCTS probes the hardware to be tested and checks the test environment. HCTS does most of the hardware configuration and environment setup.

  • More command line interface intergrated. You can choose to run HCTS testing from the new GUI or by invoking the new hctscli(1M) command at the command line.More hctscli(1M) commands are available.

     

  • New golbal option. In HCTS 4.0, there are three global options that you can use in GUI and CLI. These global options are:

    • Exit On Error - When this option is set, HCTS exits immediately when any test case fails. The test environment will not be cleaned.
    • Manual Network Setup - When this options is set, user should configure the IP addresses for the network interfaces to be tested before starting the HCTS test. See the HCTS 4.0 man page for more information.
    • Diagnosis - When this option is set, a few DTrace scripts run in parallel with test cases to collect information for debugging. This option should only be used for failure analysis. Certification with this option set is not qualified for HCL submission.

  • New custom test plan.The Custom Test Plan feature provides an interface for creating test plans which may provide additional failure diagnostics information.

 Note: HCTS 4.0 is a free download and is a big improvement over HCTS 3.1.
