I want you all to know about this new expo for young people everywhere.

The Digital Open is an online technology community and competition for youth around the world, age 17 and under.

Think about this:

"What can you make with technology that will change the world—or even just make life a little easier or more fun?"

Friends check out this amazing Student offer for JavaOne this year- Students get in free!  Plus, you can sign up for CommunityOne at the same time.  Both passes are full conference passes with access to everything!  Educators (your professors) can also get in free when they bring 10 students with them to the conference.  If they aren't able to do this, they still get a fantastic deal of $895 for a full conference pass.

What is a Full Pass?
All the benefits of a FULL conference attendee, which includes: JavaOne general and technical sessions, panel discussions, HOLs (Hands-on-labs), BOFs (Birds-of-a-feather), the Pavilion and the After Dark Bash / Networking Mixer!  Not to mention a "hang space" (which includes video games, movies & more!), plus you will be able to check email any time at one of our many hacker stations.

PLUS
Admission to the CommunityOne Deep-Dives.  What does this mean?  FREE training by our very own SLS on some really great topics, plus hugely discounted certification (vouchers will be handed out at the event)- certification can even be done on-site!  There will also be numerous parties and chances for you to network with the best and brightest in the industry, from community leaders to "Rockstars" and everyone in between.

Did you guys know that the Intel Xeon 5500 is the latest generation processing core? Our new blade systems are based on this chip technology and they are already powering High Performance Computing (HPC) around the world. This processor doubles the amount of tasks a computer can perform because it allows one chip to act as two chips. Whoa, I call that efficient!

Watch our unveiling of Sun's Open Network System on April 14th in Las Vegas, baby..

Here are more tech specs on this super chip:

  • Dynamic scalability, managed cores, threads, cache, interfaces, and power for energy-efficient performance on-demand.
  • Design and performance scalability for servers, workstations, notebooks, and desktops
  • Intelligent performance on-demand with Intel Turbo Boost Technology it takes advantage of the processor's power and thermal headroom.
  • Increased performance on highly-threaded applications with Intel HT Technology, bringing high-performance applications into mainstream computing
  • Scalable shared memory features memory distributed to each processor with integrated memory controllers
  • Multi-level shared cache improves performance and efficiency by reducing latency to frequently used data
