The Hot Rod of the future
Dude!
Neil Young came to see us yesterday here at the Sun, Menlo Park campus to show us his coolest Linc Volt car that can run up to 100 miles a gallon. This cool Hot Rod runs has been re-engineered to run on biodiesel and electricity! Not just a cool car but a green car.
Java technology is being used to monitor elements of the Linc's performance through installed sensors and we can see all the progress on an interactive web site and on a touch-screen panel inside the car.
Check out the cool pics of Neil Young and of course the "father of Java technology", James Gosling.

So why all the fuss? Well... the Link Volt is competing for the awesome Automotive X prize. According to the contest web site "The goal of the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE is to inspire a new generation of viable, super fuel-efficient vehicles that offer more consumer choices. Ten million dollars in prizes will be awarded to the teams that win a stage race for clean, production-capable vehicles that exceed 100 MPGe." So let's root for our pal Neil Young and the Linc Volt in their quest to win the X prize!!!
