Web Server 7 Technology Preview!

Web Server 7 has just entered its public Technology Preview. All kinds of goodness in here:

New admin interface
ECC
Reg-ex throughout the obj.conf
Config file consolidation
Updated Java standards and container
Java session sharing
Modern cluster management
Fully scriptable CLI tools for management
All kinds of goodness

Comments:

Nice new admin interface! The "Configurations" and "Monitoring" tabs are nice and accessible. I look forward to testing the server more with Creator2.

One critique thus far: during installation, when specifying where Java was already installed, the root directory didn't work so I had to reinstall, twice actually, before just letting the installer reinstall Java. Is the installer looking for the Java root directory, the Java bin directory, or what? This could be clearer during the installation.

No problem Joe. I've already sent in one very, very minor GUI interface bug to webserver7_ea@sun.com and will forward this suggestion as well. I'm quite excited about the new version of this server enough that it'll probably displace most of my standard apache2 installations. Thanks for such a good product.
