That's one awesome ride. I love Yamaha machines too - check out my lovely beach ride here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hutchike/1497573683/
Yamaha ATVs have manual gearboxes and are light, fast and nimble - I really recommend them over Hondas and all the rest. Their only downside is that the custom tires don't last long and cost quite a bit, especially in remote places like here in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.

You will rot in V4 hell for that abomination! Seriously, that's pretty cool. I painted my old '73 KZ650 "yamaha racing yellow" and it looked pretty nice. There's something about loud colors on standard(ish) bikes.
Now, a friend had a Max and I got to ride it. That thing turns like the HMS Titanic. It's really not about cornering, just the "vroom vroom."

Hi Kevin,
That Yam quad looks a good laugh, especially out on the beach. The weather looks a lot better where you are than the drizzly early Autumn over here in Blighty.
Had a couple of goes with ATVs before, but not a huge amount, been biking for over twenty years though.

Hi Charles,
I can think of a lot of worse places than V4 Hell - lol.
When I first got the bike I wasn't mad on the yellow, and immediately wanted to paint it 'Post Box Red' (a particularly distinctive and bright red colour, which the majority of British Post boxes are painted), but my friend Dave suggested I leave it a while as he thought it was pretty good, and now I've gone and gotten used to it. In the UK's often damp, dreary and grey weather I like to be seen when I'm on a bike, so have almost always gone for using a bright colour for the body work and tank.
Your right, cornering on a V-Max can be 'interesting', but you can still get them to lean, especially once you've been riding one for a couple of years.
And yes I love the 'vroom vroom' of the V-Max, even better as I fitted a 'SASY' from Enhance Tech (in Australia). This device gives an unprecedented amount of control over the V-Max's V-Boost system. I run mine so that it kicks in the full 147bhp at 1,800rpm (instead of the factory original 6,000rpm). The address for Enhance Tech, for anyone interested, is: http://www.enhancetech.com.au/
Been posting quite a few photos of bikes lately, specifically in two posts, one about my friends bikes (including an absolutely wild BSA Low Rider), and another about the National Motorcycle Museum over here in the UK.
Here are the two links, FYI.
1) Three pals bikes; a BSA low-rider, a Yamaha Genesis EXUP Streetfighter, and a mint Honda VFR

2) A visit to the National Motorcycle Museum

Are you still running the KZ650? My last Kawasaki was a ZZR-1100 (called the ZX-11 in North America) and I loved it, it was great fun. Sadly some dipstick drove into me and it got totalled (so did I, but as you can see I survived).
Have a good one and all the best with the riding.
Wayne
P.S.
For the pedants out there, then actually what I'm calling 'Post Box Red' is really 'Post Office Haste Red' (BS539) which has been in use since 1969. Genuine 'Post Box Red' is called 'Post Office Red' and is a duller / darker shade of red (BS538) which was in use between 1874 and 1969 (although the Royal Mail / Consignia plc still appear to have a fair bit left over as they occasionally paint post boxes with it). And here's a colour swab showing the two shades: http://www.darrenpalm.co.uk/services/colour_ranges/bs-381c-range.htm
