Driver's license application procedure in Beijing

These are some very thorough instructions on applying for a driver's license in Beijing.

As you may know, a US driver's license or international driver's license are unacceptable in China. It is required to have a local license.

The instructions are for people in Beijing. Is there any information on geting a drivers license for people who live in Shenzhen? Also, you need a China Residence permit. For myself I live both in Hong Kong and Shenzhen and do not have a China Residence permit, only a visa. Does anyone know how hard it is to get? I own an apartment in China, so I have a reason for residence. Any help is greatly apprciated.

Unfortunately I don't have any information other than the page I linked to. I was informed that a residence permit is required to get a driver's license.

If you own property in China, there is a special visa category you can use. Not sure if its a residence permit or not though

You needn't pass it in ShenZhen (in BeiJing and ShangHai you need a resident permit also),then you can get it with any type of Visa. If you need help,you can contact us,we are frequently in ShenZhen. We are moving to Beijing in August for a two year contract and are interested in Driver's licence info ... such as, how old do you have to be to get a licence in China/Beijing?
