My son, who made Eagle scout last summer, was invited along with all of the other Eagle award earners to an annual recognition dinner. The dinner was held at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.

The scouts each got paired up with a sponsor who paid for their ticket. Alex's sponsor was a local reporter from the Ramona Sentinel. Unfortunately she was feeling sick, but lucky for me I was able to take her place as Alex's sponsor. We checked in and each got a very nice Buck knife engraved with "Eagle Scout Dinner 2007".

I had never been to the Hall of Champions before. It is a fairly good size Sports museum with memorabilia galore. They have everything from the usual stick and ball sports to surfing, horse racing, motorcycle racing and swimming. They served prime rib for the main course. I had to leave early to go catch a plane to the Bay Area for today's SEED meetings, so I missed most of the presentations and speakers. The event was very nicely organized and I was really glad I was able to attend.
