Yesterday was the culmination of 13 years of compulsory education for Alex. We also got our youngest through the Middle School years.

The day started out at the High School football field where we watch our youngest, Marissa, get promoted out of Middle School. Next year she will be a freshman at the High School. We dropped off our other daughter at the High School so she could take her last final exams. Then we went out to breakfast. The morning started out cool and foggy, but by the time we were back in the stands for Marissa's ceremony it was sunny and getting hot. There were just over 500 8th graders who were promoted.

We went back home for a few hours and waited for the Grandparents and our niece to show up.

Later in the day we were back at the stadium with the family for the High School Graduation. We had to wait in the stands for about 2 hours before the ceremony started in order to find a decent place to park and to get good seats in the stands. It was very crowded. The ceremony was very nice and the graduates all looked very happy to be moving on. The Salutatorian and Valedictorians all had surprisingly entertaining speeches.

Here's the happy family photo after the event.

Congratulations Marissa and Alex!
