We headed up to the Rose Bowl yesterday for the Drum Corps International World Finals. This is where the Division I champions were determined for 2007. We got to see the Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps do their Field Show as a warm up to the main competition. Then the top 12 Division I groups started in order of their semifinal scores from lowest to highest. Each group has about 10 minutes to perform.

There were two groups from California in the finals. The Santa Clara Vanguard and the Blue Devils from Concord. Both of these groups got huge reactions from their many supporters in the crowd. The Blue Devils went on last and they absolutely nailed their performance and ended up being declared the 2007 Champions. It was quite an event and it was great to see these groups perform. The level of musicianship, choreography, and showmanship that these groups have makes them truely the best in the world. This was the first time that the Finals were on the west coast, so for us this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The DCI Finals will be shown on ESPN2 on Sept. 5. Check it out!
