Forty years ago today the crew of Apollo 11 took off for the first lunar landing. You can follow along on the mission at this web site wechoosethemoon.org put together by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. They are reliving the entire mission in real time.

I remember the first moon landing. I was fresh out of first grade and we were traveling from Southern California to Wyoming for a family reunion. We arrived in time to watch the moon landing on black & white TV at my great aunt's home.

Comments:

My dad worked for NASA in the 50's and through Rockwell in the 60's. he helped design the original launching pad in Florida before i was born. I got to put together a model of Apollo 11 so wish i still had it. :)
