San Diego Firestorm Update 3
Unfortunately all of the roads back home remain closed and Ramona is still under an evacuation order. The good news is that there is really no more threat of fires in the area. The water supply situation is what is keeping people away from their homes. The main pump station is back online but they are having problems getting the system repressurized. Hopefully we will be able to get back home tonight. The family and especially the dogs are going crazy with RV-cabin fever. Myself included.
This morning we were able to see a small smoke plume from the office far to the east of us. The winds have finally died down and the temperature, which yesterday set at least eight records in the area (101F at the Wild Animal Park in Escondido), are supposed to be much lower today. Fires are still threatening Julian, which is to the east of our neighborhood.
The local news channels have really stopped reporting on Ramona and instead have been focusing on the destruction in Fallbrook from the Rice Fire. President Bush recently arrived on Air Force One at Miramar MCAS. We could hear the plane landing from the office.
