It was pointed out today that SunSolve currently has two versions of Sun Java System Connector for Outlook, 7.2 and 7.2u1. For customers performing a fresh install with Microsoft Outlook 2003 on Windows XP, choose Connector for Outlook 7.2u1, which is the latest version.

When configuring Connector for Outlook to create a package, the option in the Mail tab to set IMAP Folder Name Mapping Options has the following choices:

  • Outlook style (Inbox,Drafts,Deleted Items, Sent Items)
  • Communications Express style (Inbox,Drafts,Trash, Sent)

The question came up: what if you had previously chosen the "Outlook style" and now you want to change to the "Communications Express style?"

One way is to re-run the package by changing the option but that might not be convenient. Is there a way to modify the configuration to change the Mapping option without re-running the package?

The answer is yes. To get the Communications Express style folders, here are the steps:

  1. Make a backup copy of the "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Sun\Outlook Connector\sjoc_folders.map" file.
  2. Copy the contents of "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\Sun Outlook Connector\uwc_folders.map".
  3. Paste the contents into the "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Sun\Outlook Connector\sjoc_folders.map" file, that is, overwrite it.
  4. Delete the pst file for profile. (Profile Properties | Advanced tab ). The default location is "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Sun\Outlook Connector."
  5. Log in to verify the new profile and to see the desired change.
