If you know a Bay Area Sun employee who is interested in applying their talents to Sun's social mission of eliminating the digital divide, please share the following opportunity with them (Or, if you're that person, you definitely need to read this):

Sun's Global Citizenship is piloting a partnership with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) to help Sun achieve its mission of eliminating the digital divide. EWB is a nonprofit organization established to partner with developing communities to improve their quality of life.  This organization has a strong track record of successfully engaging  communities in implementing sustainable engineering projects while  involving and training internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.

As a Bay Area Sun employee, you would play an active role in addressing the technology needs of EWB partner communities. We are seeking to form a Bay Area Sun EWB volunteer chapter with the goal of starting the design phase of a project by December 2007. Built into the EWB structure is a collaboration with a local university to collaborate on this project. Exciting opportunities such as traveling, mentoring and using your talents to create change can all be part of your EWB experience. Please contact Dan Zucker at Daniel.Zucker@sun.com if you are interested. Or come to the October 24 Brown Bag to learn more! (The session is scheduled to be in MPK 1281. If that room changes to a bigger one to accomodate lots of interest, signs will be posted).
