What a whirlwind week!
A week ago, Jonathan Schwartz sent out a global email announcing Sun's Worldwide Volunteer Week (April 26-May 4). That generated a lot of buzz. We are helping Team Managers create cool volunteer opportunities throughout the world. Projects range from a virtual exchange program to a sorting donated food. It is amazing to see the projects coming forward from some fantastic volunteers.
Then on Tuesday we had our SMI Friends of the Foundation meeting. Our featured guest was Gilda, a super volunteer out of California. Talking about her Worldwide Volunteer Week project has already inspired a colleague to try to create a similar project in NY. What an inspiration!
Now we are busily planning our next meeting on March 18 for employees interested in leading projects for Worldwide Volunteer Week (WWVW). Dare I say it? I think this year's WWVW is going to be even bigger and better than last year! Here's a taste of one project:
Christina Carrier in the Bay Area is heading a group of volunteers on April 26 at Sacred Heart Community Services. Volunteers will help by sorting food donations, packing family and homeless food bags,
distributing groceries and produce, or sorting and hanging clothing
donations, all while providing service to the customers with dignity,
compassion and respect. Sun volunteers can sign up at our internal volunteer tool. Those outside of Sun can learn about what Sacred Heart does in the community.
