Apple Mini for sale at Target
Mac Minute is reporting that the Apple mini is going to be available through Target.
Now, Target already sells the iPod, so it's not too much of a stretch for them to also sell the Apple mini. It's not clear whether they will make it in the stores, but it is listed on Target.com.
If it does make it in the stores, it would be an interesting way to increase the potential market for the Mac.

Referer Spam Storm
I read Tim Bray's account of the referer spamstorm and I decided to keep an eye on my referer list to see if I would get hit. I finally did see a reference to the URL in question in my referer list, so I guess that I'm not being left out.Such an "attack" is utterly useless. I don't publish my referer list. Like many bloggers on BSC, I have a bit of fascination regarding how people do get to my log, so I do look at it once in a while. Otherwise, I would have never known. It's still interesting though, just like it is interesting to me that I do come up near the top of search results when people are looking for information on Comcast, Sveasoft and other topics.

More bandwidth is coming!
Competition is a good thing. We saw it happen when Google started offering 1GB of mail space. Yahoo!, Hotmail and other web mail contenders went ahead and started offering more space for emails. Which was a good thing for the people using these services.Another area where competition is helping is broadband. In an effort to keep its customers, Comcast is increasing the bandwidth available to its users [CNet News]. There is a pretty lively discussion going on on Slashdot on this subject. The gist of it is that normal customers will get their bandwidth increased to 4Mbps downstream and 384Kbps upstream.
One can never have too much bandwidth.

Boulder JUG Tonight
I'm about to head out to attend the Boulder JUG tonight. Tonight's programm can be looked at on their web site.I know it's probably a bit late to do so tonight, but I would strongly encourage Java developers, both in Sun and outside of Sun, to attend their local Java User Group. It's great networking, and it gives us a glimpse on how Java is used outside of our little world.

Perks of the Job
A very nice perk of the job is having access to the internal builds for Solaris 10. I recently upgraded my workstation to Solaris 10 build 74, and I am really impressed with it so far.I had a couple reasons for upgrading:
- I wanted to play with the latest and greatest
- I'm writing some code that will be running on it in the update 1 time frame.
