The words "And I like a firework, explode / Roman candle lightning lights up the sky" are from U2's "Promenade." Hope you had a great July 4th.
Song for the Break ... in Music
It's the summer break for Sun, and I'm cruising through the days. No need for alarms, no meetings to race to, and no deadlines to sweat. I've turned my hat backwards and donned the shades. Off into the summer sun to find what I may. And as I walk off without anything but the joy I feel, you'll hear me singing "Deadbeat Club" by the B-52's.
I have to laugh because the the first lines of the song ("I was good, I could talk a mile a minute, on this caffeine buzz I was on...") reminds me of a girl I knew in high school who was just like that. She'd have a coffee (or two), and then soon her talking would speed up tremendously, so becoming just a stream of words with no breaks. Conversations were interesting to say the least
I was good, I could talk
A mile a minute,
On this caffeine buzz I was on
We were really hummin'
We would talk every day for hours
We belong to the deadbeat club
Anyway we can,
We're gonna find something
We'll dance in the garden
In torn sheets in the rain
We're the deadbeat club
Going down to Allen's for
A twenty-five cent beer
And the jukebox playing real loud,
"Ninety-six tears"
We're wild girls walkin' down the street
Wild girls and boys going out for a big time
Let's go crash that party down
In Normaltown tonight
Then we'll go skinny-dippin'
In the moonlight
We're wild girls walkin' down the street
Wild girls and boys going out for a big time
Anyway we can
We're gonna find something
We'll dance in the garden
In torn sheets in the rain
