Daddy's Music ... in Parenting

While traveling to The City in the car (radio on) yesterday, my daughter asked "is this Daddy's music?" "Yes it is" we replied. She then asked us to turn it up. Then my wife asked "do you like Daddy's music?" Pause. "Yes. Its cool." w00t emoticon I believe that is all the evidence and testimony I need your honor. I rest my case.

Song of the Day ... in Music

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a hard time taking Bob Geldof seriously. It's probably because every time I see him, I remember the video for Boomtown Rat's "Up All Night." Or maybe its quotes from his past like "all I want out of pop music is to get rich, get famous and get laid." And there's the whole business with Michael Hutchence and Paula Yates ... I suppose that's what I get for being a child of the 80's.

Despite all of that, I do like Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays." The song is about Brenda Spencer, a 16 year old California high school who opened fire on her school from a house across the street, injuring eight students and killing the school's principal and custodian. When later asked why she'd gone on the shooting spree, she responded "I don't like Mondays."
