I'm not a big Bush fan, but I have to tell you someone needs to put a sock in Jesse Jackson's fat mouth. I'm getting sick and tired of the same old broken record whining from him. There is nothing racist about the term refugee. Also before he starts bellyaching about people being shipped all around the country - perhaps he needs to remmeber they are American's too. Nothing wrong with the hospitality of other Americans no matter where they live. Lastly he might want to get out amongst the people and see what many of them are saying - like they aren't going to go back.

While I understand what Jackson is trying to do, which is allow those hurt so badly by this to retain some dignity, I have to agree with you that in this case I to othinmj its misplaced.

The fact of the matter is that these people are refugees. Most of them had very little to begin with, and everything they had is gone. They aren't just evacuees who will return home when the moment passes, in many many cases their homes are gone.

And not calling them refugees belittles what they are going through, how badly their government failed them, andhow badly they need our help.

Just another for ya'. Interesting to see that 2 days after the hurricane had devistated New Orleans and surrounding areas the NAACP had this announcement ... http://www.naacp.org/news/2005/2005-08-31.html. The mind truely boggles what people are thinking and doing. Of course it took another couple of days watching the non-stop 24x7 news coverage for them to actually acknowledge the flood http://www.naacp.org/news/2005/2005-09-02.html. At which time they expressed their "outrage". Ummm... yeah. I'm pretty outraged it took them 4 days to come help their "brothers and sisters". I guess those "brothers and sisters" in New Orleans don't pay many dues.
