University tour @ Hyderabad

During my visit to Hyderabad, I've visited and met couple of representatives from various universities.

* University of Hyderabad

* JNTU, Hyderabad

* Osmania University

* IIIT/IEG

* ICFAI

University of Hyderabad having a sun ray lab which has 20-25 thin clients. Also they have sunfire server to manage. This university offers post graduate degrees. They do lot of research activities, published papers in IEEE and other journals. This is one among seven central university across India.

They are eager to adopt sun technologies and collobarative research activities with Sun. This is one such university which I thought we can do lot of things.

Raju and myself had been to this university, I gave the presentation to faculties on SAI(Sun Academic Initiative) and the Sun India university programs. Raju gave the wonderful talk on open source technologies which Sun offers to the community.

JNTU, Hyderabd

Sriram and Pavan had been to JNTU. They spoke about overview of opensolaris features and did a live installation of solaris in their machine. Students have a less awareness of solaris and its features. They are interested to learn and participate in sun activities. We have a campus ambassador, Sudhakar who is very active in promoting sun technologies at JNTU.

I went and met HOD of CS dept, did a presentation about SAI, university programs, benefits to students, faculties and to the institute. HOD is very co-operative and agreed to adopt the sun technologies into their curriculum. Also they did mention about the meeting with university council for curriculum adoption.

 Osmania University

 Vineeth and Srinidhi had been to Osmania university. Srinidhi spoke about java and Vineeth gave a high level pitch about opensolaris features. Inspite of having exams to second year students, they attended the talk. Students have a less awareness about solaris and eager to learn.

I went and met HOD of CS and couple of other faculties. HOD and Prof. Babu are very co-operative. I gave the presentation about SAI and Sun India university programs and how they can leverage these programs in their university. They all are excited about Sun and its innovation. They immediately agreed to adopt the opensolaris curriculum adoption into their curriculum.

IIIT/IEG

IEG - Institute of e-governance, this comes under government of AP. I met Mr. Prasad and Mr. Murali, Deputy director, research projects and gave a presentation on SAI and other activities. They all are excited about Sun and its innovation. Its a on-going effort, SLS organization will be working with this institute to leverage sun technologies.

ICFAI

I met Prof. Prahlad who is a big fan of Sun technolgies. I gave a presentation to Prof. and the student Kush Singhal, they are excited about sun tech days and the sun technologies. Its an on-going effort and will be in touch withis institute.

Overall, student community look for internship and projects from Sun.

Faculties and institutes look for technology adoption and colloborative research with sun.

It was just a fantastic tour to hyderabad.
