Hiding Unnecessary Directories and Files in NetBeans IDE
While trolling through nbusers@netbeans.org last week, I discovered that it's possible to hide directories and files that are normally displayed in the IDE. In the Options window (under the Tools menu), there's this setting (click to enlarge):

I added "test" in the Ignored Files property above so that the "test" directory isn't displayed in the Files window. I haven't had a use for this directory so far, so ignoring it creates some additional real estate for other directories. When I click the Help icon in the illustration above, I am told that ignored files "are not displayed in any of the IDE windows and are not processed by IDE commands". Seems pretty cool to me. Unfortunately, though, it doesn't seem as if this applies to the Projects window or the Runtime window.
