Goan Souvenir for NetBeans Evangelist Gregg Sporar
NetBeans evangelist Gregg Sporar has a great presentation where he talks about problems that can occur in applications, and the need for various types of profilers to deal with these problems. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about his presentation, because every time I've seen it (once at JavaOne, once in Oslo at JavaZone, and at least one other time), I had my presentation right after his, so I had to leave 10 minutes into his presentation, so that I could begin edging my way to the front of some other room in order to start setting up my presentation...
Anyway, the second slide of Gregg's presentation shows a black and white photo of an anguished bearded guy screaming at the ceiling in desperation. So, Gregg shows this anguished bearded guy and then says: "When your application messes up, this is what you're likely to see..." And then he spends an hour talking about how to solve the anguished bearded guy's problems.
Now, back to me in Goa. Right next door to my hotel is a Tibetan street market, where they sell various nick nacks and odds and ends from Tibet. These Tibetan markets are literally all over the place here in Calangute, Goa. There's lots of interesting artifacts, almost like a museum. But when I saw this mask, I immediately thought of Gregg, or at least, I thought of his presentation:
So, Gregg, how about replacing your anguished bearded guy with this picture of a Tibetan mask, next time round? Maybe I'll even stay to the end of your presentation... :-)
