Last night, I had another riding lesson on Pimms - the thoroughbred horse that teaches me to ride. My highlight of the lesson was to learn how to canter. The canter is the second fastest pace of a horse after the gallop.
As you probably can imagine, not everything went smoothly. It took me some time to find my balance and to get in tune with Pimms' canter. Riding in any pace is comfortable for the horse only when the rider is finely tuned in to the horse's movements. Anything else is not pleaseant for the horse (or the rider).
During my quest to canter, Pimms took care of me. One time on a right hand turn, I was leaning too much to the left. Pimms stopped the turn and went straight. In doing so, he saved me from a not so graceful dismount.
Pimms showed three character traits. He recognised me as a novice rider, watched out for my wellbeing, and forgave me for my mistakes.
Back home after my lession, I wanted to check on Sun's blogs and mistakenly typed in "http://blo.sun.com". The browser in no uncertain terms told me that I made an error. No further consideration, no sense for my intent, no forgiveness. Error, that's it.
Maybe riding is not the only thing Pimms can teach us.
