Skype for JDS not working quite well

 With all the hype with Skype, Voice over IP product running not only on Windows, now on Linux and specificially JDS2. I downloaded it from the beta site. Installed nicely and lauched, the GUI is not nice qt GUI. Registered first with a 2 characters user name (gt), it didn't complain even though it said use between 6 to 32 characters just below the text box.

After the registration, I tried to login and keep getting login failed and when I tried to selection File->options, it crashed.
That is the end of my experience with my first VOIP product, sigh ...

I am sorry to read that Skype was not working for you on JDS2. However, some of your colleagues have had more luck, you might want to contact them - Skype name 'ggravier'. Firstly, if you're in a Sun network, you might want to set the environment variables 'http_proxy' or 'http_proxy' to point to your proxy. The "crash when selecting Options when offline" is a known issue that has been fixed in 0.90.0.4 that was released yesterday.
