"I wish you would be like a Guppy"

Originally I wanted to start the cultural topics in this blog with a different story but today I learned one more time that living in the same or a similar environment does not mean that you also share the same value system.

Having spent my time during the last two weeks with business travel and nearly every evening with a customer RFQ, went after work into the Gym and came back late, my little son (10 years) did not saw much of me.

Today evening I was sitting with him in front of our fish tank. We were quiet and watched together the busy live of the fishes for a while when he suddenly said:
"I wish you would be like a Guppy fish".
I had not any clue what should be in this situation the difference or similarities between me and a Guppy fish and so I asked carefully:
"Aeh - Why?"
"Because if you would be like a Guppy fish you would spent a lot of time by running for the girls and therefore you would not get fat and could rather spend your leisure time with me than going in the Gym".

Not sure how Guppy women fish think about this but I am sure that probably the difference in the age was the main reason why my wife was not willing to share his value system right in this moment;-)
