Jiffy Pop for dinner.

Tuesday May 20, 2008

Does it make me a bad mom that this is what I gave my 4 1/2 year old for dinner last Friday night? Pizza rolls and Jiffy Pop!

It was movie night ("Barbie Mermaidia") and my husband was out of town. Why cook??

I "Googled" Jiffy Pop and learned that it was invented in the United States in 1958 by Fred Mennen. What a genius!! If you grew up in the US and you are somewhere near my age range (or even what I claim to be) :-) you should remember this:

In case you're curious about the nutritional value I was able to capture that as well:

Serving size 2 TABLESPOONS?!?!? That's about 6 pieces of popcorn, which means I ate at least 5 servings.

Anyway... it made me feel like a kid again and my daughter now thinks I'm the coolest mom in the world. Totally worth it- but I promise not to do it again. (In case my husband or the grandparents are reading this)

It's not as bad as it sounds: The two tablespoons must refer to the pre-popped kernels, otherwise the container would hold much more than 3.5 servings.

If you divide the resulting popped corn into four equal portions, then you'll have less than one serving.

Thanks Mark, you must be correct because there was still more than 1/2 the popcorn remaining after I ate about 2 cups of it!
