Tomorrow, April 16th, Porto Alegre OpenSolaris User Group together with Sun and Free Software Association will present the OpenSolaris Day.
In this event, we'll have Sun Campus Ambassadors Tech Talks about OpenSolaris, HPC, Java and another related projects.
This event will happen one day before
the Free Software Forum, called here FISL, that will take place at Porto
Alegre - Brazil.

Last Thursday, March 20th, Porto Alegre OpenSolaris User Group had its monthly meeting at CESUP (Yes! Now we have a good place for our meetings!).
We discussed about our future meetings, how they will be performed, how to manage our group website and materials avaliable on it. Also, we talked about two great events that will take place at Porto Alegre in the next month. On April 16th, we will have OpenSolaris Day and on April 17, 18 and 19th, FISL 9.0. Like last year, our user group will participate and interact with the open source community and everyone interested to learn about opensolaris. If you have the oportunity, come to visit us.
We also decided to (whenever possible) give one gift for a group member who provided a good contribution to the group. And this month the elected one was Marcelo Leal. We gave him a Solaris t-shirt, take a look at the photo:

We also had two participants using skype, Rafael Vanoni (from
Dublin!) and Lucas Torri (from Florianópolis). They are in the photo too, at the first computer, but we forgot to turn the monitor :-)

Yesterday we had another OSUG meeting, at last! Unfortunately only four people showed up, but it was interesting.
We talked about next year perspectives, FISL9.0 and plans for our group. And of course we had to took some pictures :-)

From April 12 to 14th our OSUG was participating on FISL, in Porto Alegre - Brazil, it was a great experience.
Our stand was right next to Sun's booth! We met many interesting people, including some developers from Sun Microsystems.
There was a lot of people interested to learn about opensolaris and try it out. About 200 OpenSolaris Starter Kits was distributed in three days.
