Sun Identity Manager 8.1 and Identity Connectors
At the end of last week Sun Identity Manager version 8.1 was released. I waited to post this until the open source project for the Identity Connectors was also made available (see below for more information).

The major new features of the Sun Identity Manager 8.1 release are:
- External Resource Management - support for provisioning of resources where provisioning is manually performed by a "provisioner", and entitlements are stored and audit events are captured.
- Identity Connectors - new open source framework for creating resource for provisioining (see below)
- Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML) 2 enhancements - ehnaced SPML2 server support (search), supported SPML2 Resource adapter for provisioning to other systems
- Significant Java Management Extensions (JMX) monitoring enhancements
- Enhanced Sun Role Manager Integration
- Pluggable Security (AES) Support
- XML Digital Signature (XML-DSig)

The Identity Connectors Framework and Toolkit is built to help drive development of Connectors. Connectors provide a consistent generic layer between applications and target resources. Yes,
The Identity Suite Essentials will be updated soon. All the instructions are the same so the existing content will only include minor changes. Several new tutorials will be added (please request additional ones if there are other topics of interest).
Here is the list of tutorials that are to be added next:
