First off I prefer Solaris 10 over any other OS, and I'm not saying that because I work for Sun. I'm saying that because that is one of the reasons I work for Sun. But I have a few laptops which I run Ubuntu on and have for a few years. The latest release 6.06 is a huge step forward in useability. For those who do not, check out these links to get started:

For those who do use Ubuntu, check out this list of Hack Attack: Top 10 Ubuntu apps and tweaks (I especially like number eleven, Spinal Tap).

Hey, I've actually got 6.06 Dapper and XGL running quite nicely on a Ultra40 over here. I notice in the Keyboard Preferences plane, you're unable to set the Super Key (usually binded to the winkey) and the third tab is greyed out, have you experienced the same thing? Also, did you happen to hear about the apache/ubuntu test someone did on a t2000 recently? Looks like they were able to get about 2000 more request in per sec with apache running on ubuntu instead of solaris 10 and solaris express. http://www.stdlib.net/~colmmacc/2006/04/12/ubuntu-on-a-t2000/ Take it easy, -K
