Most laptops have XP pre-installed on laptops as part of contract and most of the time it is NTFS. To install Nevada on these laptops you either need to format the disk completely or reduce the NTFS partition so that disk space could be retrieved. qtparted is very good utility for this - http://qtparted.sourceforge.net/ qtparted utility comes with system resque cd (live cd). You can download the iso for cd from the website and burn it on the CD. The live cd iso can be downloaded from www.sysresccd.org List of other system tools is available from - http://www.sysresccd.org/System-tools After booting the system from live cd, try qtparted & If you dont see qtparted coming up and failing for libqtparted-mt.so run the command run_qtparted. This will setup all the required environment and bring up qtparted. Select the disk you have NTFS installed on select the option resize. The rest of it is easy.
