Linux is fine on the phone. But, pair it up with a Java technology layer (J2ME CDC) and you've got a developer's salivating dream: an API layer that is much more programmable, familiar, standard, and efficient for abstracting a cell phone environment. Qualcomm and Motorola are giving us a glimpse of the future.
