If you're going to open source something like Java ME technology, you should expect some people will want a free lunch. See: Open source, open sauce, same thing... except one is spicier Here's a quote: Open sourcing its software is Sun's "seeding model" to encourage more developers to experiment with its technologies... The hope is once enterprises decide to adopt Sun software, they'll want to pay for maintenance and support services and then also look at its hardware and storage offerings...Forget that! Go for the free (as in beer) software! Think about it... We're opening up all of the Java ME technology stacks with an OSI-compliant free software license. Why buy the coffee pot, when you can get the Java for free? ;-) |
