Google and You, Google and Me, Google and Java ME technology

It's becoming more apparent that the way Google plans to monetize cell phones is to acquire Java ME tech start-ups like Reqwireless and incubate their apps for wireless solutions that connect back to the mother ship. Look how Reqwireless was bought by Google back in January and how Google announced GMail for Java ME cell phones last week.

Google strategy: Acquire more and more Java ME technology

Here's a quote:

 Another good call: Reqwireless
 programmed in Java, which was
 compatible with just one phone
 model in 2001. Now, Skubowius
figures more than 500 use it.
 "Our applications were
 written to work on any
 cellphone," he says.
And now that Java ME technology will be open sourced that's your ticket: Your ticket to Google and U (making a deal to acquire your future Java ME high-tech start-up). $$$ Cha-ching...
