Hide your OSes: Do it with Java ME technology

This InformationWeek article compares operating systems on smartphones. The OS determines features, performance, and security via the available OS APIs. However, you can hide all that with Java ME technology layered on top to abstract your OS and have enterprise IT apps be written once, run on any smartphone. WOROAS. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue, does it?

See:

Write once, run on any OS

Here's a quote:

 The top U.S. cellular carriers--Cingular,
 Verizon Wireless, and Sprint--have made
progress over the past year upgrading
 their networks to support high-speed
data services, and T-Mobile is pouring
$2.7 billion into its infrastructure. The
upgrades make it more feasible for road
warriors to access applications while on
the move. Demand for wireless access to
business apps is fueling smartphone sales.
It's time to stop the madness and program to Java ME instead of the OS.
