Java ME tech gives you comical mobile comics

GoComics delivers daily comics to your Java ME technology-enabled cell phones. Nice to have when you want something to lighten up your day.

Comics the Java ME way

Here's a quote:

 GoComics Daily delivers daily
 comic strips featuring Garfield,
 FoxTrot, The Duplex, Pooch Cafe,
Stone Soup, and Red and Rover.
Those are the same comic strips
 as in today's newspapers, but
 offered in full color. This
 new entertainment application
is available for both BREW and
 Java platforms.
Too bad there is no more Far Side comic. The polar bears were great.

HP's got something hotter than Carly Fiorina at a contentious board meeting

Yeah, yeah. I know. Mark Hurd is the CEO of HP now, not Carly. It doesn't matter much because HP has a new lineup of Java ME technology capable cell phones. They will launch the new iPAQ 914 and 614.

See:

Here's a quote:

 The HP iPAQ 914 (pictured
 above) will be pulling
 duty as the flagship of
 HP’s reinvigorated handset
 business - 2.5 inch 240×320
 touchscreen, 3 megapixel
 camera, A-GPS, WiFi b/g,
 7.2Mbps HSDPA and Google
 Maps. Oh, and that spiffy,
 new Windows Mobile 6.0
 Professional OS. Talk about
 a feature-packed smartphone!
Don't forget to put on the most important feature: a free Java ME stack from the phoneME Advanced project (in MR2 dev b34: CDC/MIDP for Windows Mobile 6.0).

Steve Jobs pooches his early iPhone adopters

Stevie-boy, in an act of desperation to prop up his failing non-Java ME iPhone, has cut the price of the ill-fated device by $200 after only 10 weeks. If I were an iPhone early adopter, I'd be hella p*ssed!

See:

Here's a quote:

"I feel like I just got
 punched in the face,"
 said one commenter on
 the MacRumors blog.
 "Fanboy tax indeed."
They should've bought a Java ME technology-enabled cell phone instead... I can't say I didn't warn them. Or, at least they should've waited to buy the just announced touchscreen iPod instead. That way they could put Java ME technology on these new touchscreen iPods (with the swoopy UI just like on the iPhones, with panning and zooming at half the price!). See: Java ME for new touchscreen iPods. Now, that would be cool...

See:

Google's Java ME phone better than Apple's iPhone

Here's a quote:

+ The Google Phone OS is based
on a mobile variant of Linux,
and is able to run Java
   virtual machines.

+ All applications that run on
   the Google Phone are Java
apps. The OS has ability to
   run multimedia files,
   including video clips.
Thousands of iPhone owners are asking, "Why, why, why did I lock into a 2-year contract? Oh, G*d, why..?" Boo. hoo.
