Sliders, love em with Java ME tech

Sliders are another name for White Castle burgers. But, if you are from the West Coast, you probably don't know what Sliders are or what a White Castle is, unless you've seen the movie, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. "Did Doogie Houser just steal my car?"

Nokia has Java ME tech-enabled Sliders also.

See:

Nokia's version of Sliders

Here's a quote:

The phone has VGA quality video
 recording feature and a unique
 TV connect option. The music
player and the FM radio come in
 [quite] handy when you want
 entertainment. The games run
 on J2ME which offers excellent
 quality games.
Excellent. Maybe they have Extreme Kayaking!

Authentic, gen-yoo-wine, one-time password, w/Java ME tech

If you want to authenticate a user on a mobile device, be it a Java ME cell phone or that other phone with an "I" in front of its name ( :-P ptooey! :-) ), you'll want the very best software. And, that means Verisign on Java ME technology.

See:

Be authentic w/Verisign and Java ME

Here's a quote:

Aimed at developers of J2ME and
 iPhone applications, the VIP
 Mobile Developer Program builds
on the success of a similar
 program launched at last year's
 RSA Conference. By leveraging
 the VIP Mobile SDK, developers
 can create a pilot or
 demonstration version to
 transform mobile devices into
 two-factor authentication
 credentials...
Try it and see--on a Java ME device that is. I can't vouch for what happens on one of the i-thingies though. ;-)

Happy Birthday: if they were me, and I was you, if they were me, and I was you

Happy birthday, blogs.sun.com! Today, you are 5 years old. Look at you... 5 years old. You don't look a day over 4. Must be because you dress young.

And, I was there right from the start--well, almost. I started this blog on Java ME technology back in June aught four, just a few months after blogs.sun.com first launched.

See:

Remember blogs.sun.com 5 years ago

Just like they sing in the Altered Images Happy Birthday song: If they were me, if they were me, and I was you, and I was you.

If they were me and I was you, would you've like to prat-dah-tee-dooooooo?

What they heck do they sing in that part???

Who will make money from Sun/Oracle deal? Analysts, baby, analysts...

Who will make the most scratch from the Sun/Oracle buyout? No, not the M&A lawyers, but good guess since I'm sure they'll make some. It will be the places producing analyst reports, like Gartner who is working on a report about the impact to Java ME technology.

See:

Make money, not love

Hey, if anyone wants to buy an analyst report from me, I can whip one up for less than what other companies charge... ;-)

Connecting with the Oracle... with Java ME technology

In the movie, The Matrix, the Oracle tells Neo that he can use his Java ME tech-enabled cell phone to manipulate the Matrix. But she says he's waiting for something... maybe his next life. Of course, Neo does get resurrected into his next life with the help of Trinity where he kicks major butt fighting against the Matrix agents who are enemies of the Oracle.

See:

Connecting with the Oracle via Java ME

Here's a quote:

// Establish a JDBC connection to the
// Oracle database server via Java ME
  DriverManager.registerDriver(new
    oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver());
  Connection conn = DriverManager.
    getConnection(
      "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:"
      +db,user,pwd);
What does this all mean? Who knows... But, maybe we better all hang on to our Java ME tech-enabled cell phones just to be ready for when we can (as the Oracle points out) manipulate the Matrix. ;-) Never doubt the Oracle...

Don't hate the playah, hate the game

The CNET News dude, Don Reisinger, decided to switch from the sucky non-Java iPhone 3G to the awesome Java ME tech-enabled BlackBerry Bold. So, what happens? He gets a whole bunch of iPhone fanboys coming out of the woodwork making defensive comments about his decision. Yo, yo... don't hate player, hate all the non-Java ME games! :-)

See:

Don't be hating Java ME enabled devices

Here's a quote:

 Some of my followers disagreed.
In a matter of seconds after
 telling them that I was
switching to a Bold, I was
 inundated with comments
 discrediting the BlackBerry.
 Some folks mentioned the issues
they have with it, while others
 decided to be more biting.
Can't we all just get along...? :-)

Stickam enables your Java ME cell phone stream video

Do you remember when the NFL allowed the use of Stick-Um so that wide receivers could catch passes by sticking one arm out and snagging the football like flypaper? Well, this has nothing to do with that, unless you were thinking about Stickam which is a Java ME company that allows you to stream video to the Web from your cell phone.

See:

Stream video with Stickam

Here's a quote:

 Online streaming video service
 Stickam announced that its
 offering is now available to
 all Java-enabled phones. Users
will be able to stream video
over the Web from their mobile
phones with the help of the
 company's app, Stickam Mobile.
Reminds me of Steakum. Now, I'm hungry for a Philly cheesesteak...

Use your Instincts with Java ME tech

Sprint is announcing their 2nd generation Instinct from Samsung coming out April 19. It's got bells, it's got whistles, it's got games like "Guitar Hero - World Tour" and "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader". That's because it's got Java ME technology.

See:

The Right Instinct

Here's a quote:

The Instinct s30 will run a
 proprietary operating system
 and supports third-party Java
 applications. It will be more
 "open" than its predecessor,
 giving developers access to
 core Java APIs...
Nice. Follow your instincts and you'll find Java ME APIs...
