A fool and his iPhone are soon parted

Here's a report on the claim by Innaworks that they can take a Java ME game and convert it to run on the iPhone by using their new AlcheMo tool. Riiiight...

Be wary of Java ME game converter

Here's a quote:

As any fule kno, to make native iPhone
games developers will need to sign up
for Apple's SDK. However, what to do
if they've got a bunch of existing
Java games that they want to port
 across?
I'll believe it when I see it. It doesn't take someone from Missouri (the "Show Me" state) to want to be shown that it works. You suspect something is wrong when something smells fishy. [OK, I think I've mixed enough metaphors for today...] :-)

Hinkmond, you might want to check out our website first before dismissing so off-handedly.

Innaworks has a long history of delivering qualty development tools for Java ME community. mBooster is the leading J2ME application/game optimization solution. alcheMo for BREW is a fully automated Java to BREW porting solution used by many of the tier 1 customers (see www.innaworks.com/alcheMo.com for testimonials). Our company's people were speakers at JavaOne 2006 and JavaOne 2007 and will be speaking again at JavaOne 2008. If you still have doubts, send me an email, and we can arrange a demo.

Kind regards,

Hi Stephen,

I have no doubts and do not dismiss Innaworks being able to develop a tool to port Java ME to BREW. That's no problem. I tip my hat to you and your company, since that is no easy feat.

However, my post was about a reported tool that can port Java ME to the iPhone. Please give us more information on that specifically. I am interested in seeing if you have any presentation at JavaOne 2008 planned that will cover this specific topic (Java ME porting tool for the iPhone) or if you have customer testimonials about running Java ME ported apps on the iPhone.

Better still, would be a video on YouTube showing a Java ME app that has been ported by alcheMo running on an actual iPhone. I'm happy to have my doubts eased and would applaud your company in seeing that. :-) I'd be happy to eat my words.

Thanks!
Hinkmond
