Discover Java ME widget-based discovery
Widgets, gadgets, applets, doo-dads, thing-a-ma-jiggies... It's all the same--little tiny mobile Java ME tech-enabled apps that are customizable, mini-apps, minapps, mapps, m's. Things that show stock quotes, sports scores, weather reports, news snippets, blog summaries, blah, blah, blah, you know the drill, all on your cell phone. Aricent has their Celltop that they are making available now on Java ME technology (they used to only be on BREW uiOne). See: Aricent wisely moves their Celltop to Java ME Here's a quote: It provides easy access to data services by reducing the obstacle of multiple click-throughs. Celltop was launched on selected Alltel Wireless phones in January 2007. Now, Aricent wants to expand the app’s availability by making the Celltop software development kit available for both BREW uiOne and J2ME handset platforms.Well if they drop BREW uiOne support, they would save themselves a boatload of troubles for the small number of devices with BREW now. Free advice. :-) |
