iPhone killer will have Java ME MIDP 2.0

Everyone is out to get Apple and its freaky little iPhone. So, the iPhone has a touchscreen, eh? Well, HTC has a touchscreen too... plus it's got Java ME technology, and is coming out earlier. :-P

See:

HTC Touch is a Rock Star

Here's a quote:

 Germany's three leading mobile
 service providers will start
 selling the HTC Touch smart
phone in late June -- earlier
 than the European debut of
 Apple's iPhone, which the HTC
 Touch hopes to rival.
Hey, Stevie-boy. Your iPhone is just a poser without Java ME technology.

 For ya smartphone posers
 yeah
 it's almost over now
 almost over now

Hey dude, what's with the i-phone obsession you have? This is like the 10th article you have about it in 10 days! :-)

Hi Airlan,

It's not me! Honestly! :-) It's just the hits I get recently when I search for news regarding "mobile" and "wireless".

Stevie-boy is an excellent Public Relations marketer, and the iPhone is big-time in the news now, leading up to their launch on June 29th.

I hear ya, though. Too much attention to Stevie-boy, is not good. I'll do some filtering of my news searches from now on. ;-)

Thanks,
Hinkmond

But does it have visual voice mail? I think that is the killer feature of the upcoming iPhone.

Well I actually use a HTC Touch as my daily phone (I am in the UK) and whilst it is a nice phone, it certainly doesn't kill the iPhone - at least from my understanding of the iPhone UI. The HTC is a nice phone, but once you've pushed those nice big buttons you are busy scrambling for your stylus to get anything done - Windows Mobile 6 with a single 'launcher' that is actually usable with your fingers ...

Correction: Windows Mobile. It's a joke. Hehe. :-) (Note that Mike didn't mention any apps that were running in Java ME technology in his comment. Instead, he mentioned the apps that are native to Windows Mobile 6)
