J2ME phone services in China

Linktone in China is seeing a good amount of growth in J2ME services (mainly games) in China.

They have good margins and a good foothold in a fast-growing market.

J2ME gaming, ring tones, and MMS only ammount to $1.1 million while SMS text messaging $11 million account for the bulk of their revenue. The smart thing to do is tie J2ME games (and enterprise apps) to the asynchronous communication model of SMS text messaging. Example: SMS text message data that gets displayed in a J2ME game or app. The two are complimentary.
