Java ME is not dead: James Gosling sets the record straight
The good thing about blogs is it allows everyone to set the record straight. Here's a blog post from James Gosling setting the record that Java ME technology is not actually dead. Phew! See:
James Gosling says Java ME is not dead
Here's a quote: JavaME is *not* dead! It's growing up. Sheesh. Some folks are far too eager to misinterpret statements and put words in my mouth. Reminds me of Dr. McCoy from Star Trek, "He's dead Jim!". Not exactly. Java ME is alive, but it's life, not as we know it. ;-)

I have gone through Core java and .NET. I am a fresher to J2ME technology. I am worried about the growth rate of J2ME in future. I am thinking if I want to shift to .NET technology. Could someone please let me know about the growth of J2ME in future.

Hi Anand,
Java ME technology is still growing very quickly with every major cell phone carrying MIDP 2.0 and newer phones implementing the JSR 238, Mobile Services Architecture (MSA). There are billions of Java ME phones and they are not going away anytime soon.
dotNET technology, on the other hand is dead. There are not billions of phones with .NET.
